August Birthstone Inspiration: Peridot in Your Home

peridot_large

Peridot is the official birthstone for August and comes from deep inside the Earth, usually brought out by volcanoes. The gemstone is known for its healing properties and acts as an auspicious stone for power and influence.

The color green is often used to decorate the interior of a home because of its varying qualities, including references to nature and a calming feel. It also acts as an excellent pairing to other colors, bringing contrast and balance to any room.

Bathroom

A little green in the bathroom can make a huge difference in turning it into a relaxing place. Green is great as an accent color through necessity items such as towels, a Toilet Brush with Trash Can, or a soap pump like this Penguin Soap Pump.

Bedroom

Whether you are looking for a contemporary feel or a more earthy tone, the color you pair green with as well as the shade of the green will be key to getting the feel you want. For a fresh and clean look, try pairing a light green with greys. For a darker, woodlands feel, add in some browns with a more forest green.

Dining Room

The dining room is a space where people gather and interact on a daily basis. Citrus greens like lime and melon are excellent as they are bright and cheery, setting the mood for the meal.

Garden

Since the garden or yard is often naturally green, it works well to try and bring some of the views to focus in on the garden. You can also try and bring the garden into your home through indoor plants in these gorgeous Vase of Seven Days. Green and blue is often used in the house because our minds automatically respond to them as colors of the earth, and it is a great way to bring nature into your home.

Kitchen

The kitchen is the perfect place where nature meets home. Sea-green cabinets can help make a kitchen feel more open and add an extra energy to the room. Try growing your own herbs in this Herb Pot Duo or vegetables for cooking to bring in some life to the kitchen. Serve yourself some wine while cooking or entertaining guests with these special blue and green Wine Glasses. They are hand blown yet are stronger than the regular wine glass since they are designed with a thicker stem.

Living Room

If you are not keen to paint the walls green or invest in green furniture or decorations, an excellent way to rotate the colors is to add some green into your lighting. The Tono LED Mood Light is just one of many options. It will switch from a variety of shades of colors, from red to blue to green. This is a good way to bring green into the living room when you feel like it but be able to turn it off when you have had enough for the day.

What do you think? What shades of green do you already have in your home? Would you add some more? Let us know in the comments below!
